Privacy policy

This policy explains what information the TopShott apps (iPhone, Android and web) collect, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. TopShott is a platform for organizing and playing amateur sports tournaments and club activities.

Information you give us

• Account: your name, email address and password (handled by our sign-in provider, we never see your password).
• Profile: username, photo and cover image, the sports you play and watch, positions, skill level, dominant hand, gender, birthdate, phone number, bio and social links. Everything except your name and main sport is optional, and you choose who can see your birthdate and profile.
• Activity: tournaments, teams, registrations, matches, scores, clubs, polls, bookings and the results that build your standings, badges and levels.
• Content: chat messages in clubs and teams, community posts, photos and videos you upload, and live streams you choose to broadcast.
• Support: when you report a problem we receive your description, an optional screenshot and basic device details (model, OS and app version).

Information collected with your permission

• Location: used only while you use a feature that needs it, such as the golf rangefinder, courses near you and courts near you. We do not track your location in the background and do not use it for advertising.
• Camera and microphone: used only when you go live or take a photo.
• Photos: only the images you pick for your profile, team, club or posts.
• Notifications: a push token so we can send the match, club and account alerts you turn on.

How we use it

To run TopShott: creating your account, showing your fixtures, scores and standings, letting organizers and club admins manage the events you join, sending the notifications and widget updates you opt into, keeping the service secure, and answering support requests. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party ads or track you across other companies' apps and websites.

What other people can see

Your name, username, photo and sports appear to other players on rosters, brackets, standings and search. You can make your profile private so that only approved followers see your details, and you can block other users. Organizers see the contact details you provide when you register for their event. Live streams are visible to the audience you broadcast to.

Service providers

We share information only with providers that help us run the service, under contract:

• Clerk, for sign-in and account security.
• Railway, for hosting our servers, database and files.
• Mux and api.video, for live streaming and recordings.
• Expo, Apple and Google, for delivering push notifications and app updates.
• Stripe, for payments that organizers, clubs and facilities collect outside the iOS app. Card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored by TopShott.
• OpenStreetMap-based services, Open-Meteo and GolfCourseAPI, which receive a location or search term to return places, weather and golf course data. They do not receive your account details.
• Pickstorm, our fantasy sports partner, which receives public tournament results for tournaments that offer fantasy.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect users' safety.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account we remove your profile and personal details. Results of matches you played may stay in tournament history in an anonymized form so other teams' standings stay correct. Backups are overwritten within 30 days.

Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile, visibility and notification settings in the app at any time.
• Delete your account in the app under Profile, Account & security, Delete account (steps on this page). It takes effect immediately.
• Ask for a copy of your data or ask us to correct or delete it by emailing info@topshott.co.

Children

TopShott is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited to people who need it to run the service, and passwords are handled by our sign-in provider rather than stored by us.

Changes

If we make significant changes we will update the date above and tell you in the app.
